ARMORY DINING CHAIR
Design: Herzog & de Meuron, part of the "La Magie du Bois" collection. Inspired by robust, basic dark-wood furnishings discovered in the attics and basements of Park Avenue Armory in New York during its 2006 renovation. The Armory family embraces the simplicity of straight square wood profiles joined with traditional techniques. The chair follows the same one-profile logic, bent into a simple curve for comfort; splitting the seat in half makes it stackable. Solid Canaletto walnut, seasoned and dried twice, machined with five-axis numerical control, then planed, sanded, glued, clamped and hand-finished with a sprayed 10-gloss lacquer. Hand crafted in Italy.
